The motto of the Bihar Fire Service is "WE SERVE TO SAVE," reflecting our commitment to safeguarding lives and property. Based on this guiding principle, the department's objectives are structured into three priority areas:

1. Primary Objective: Saving Life
  • Life-Saving Operations: The foremost responsibility is to save lives during fire incidents and other emergencies such as building collapses, drownings, and natural disasters.
  • Training and Preparedness: Fire service personnel undergo rigorous training to handle extreme conditions involving smoke, heat, and toxic fumes, using advanced breathing equipment and search procedures.
  • Emergency Response: Quick and efficient response to emergencies to minimize casualties, emphasizing the importance of overcoming smoke inhalation hazards and rescuing individuals trapped in perilous situations.
2. Secondary Objective: Saving National and Pubic Property
  • Fire Suppression Techniques: Employing the latest fire-fighting technologies and methods to control and extinguish fires effectively while minimizing damage.
  • Property Protection: Extinguishing fires at their source to prevent widespread damage, ensuring that water and other fire-fighting substances do not cause additional harm to property.
  • Mitigating Fire Loss: Continuous education and training programs in practical fireman-ship to reduce the impact of fires on national and public assets.
3. Tertiary Objective: Salvage and Preservation
  • Humanitarian Services: Providing essential services such as ambulance support, first aid, and assistance to those in distress.
  • Property Salvage: Dedicated efforts to preserve and salvage property from fire, smoke, and water damage during fire-fighting operations.
  • Community Assistance: Supporting the community in various ways, including during non-fire emergencies and public events.
Additional Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Fire Protection and Prevention Advice: Offering expert advice on fire protection measures and fire prevention strategies to the public.
  • Public Safety during Events: Ensuring fire safety during communal riots, strikes, festivals, public gatherings, and large processions.
  • Fire Safety Education: Organizing public education campaigns, fire prevention programs like "Agni Sachetak Yojna," and training sessions for youth and communities.
  • Commemorating Fire Service Personnel: Observing Fire Service Day on April 14th to honor those who have sacrificed their lives in service, promoting fire prevention through demonstrations, cultural programs, and educational initiatives.
  • Community Outreach: Conducting fire prevention lectures and demonstrations in schools, colleges, and other organizations to raise awareness about fire safety.
